mostly because I didn't feel like anything was really happening around here.
But when I stopped to think about things, I realized--hey! I've actually been doing stuff! And other stuff has been happening.
For example:
- My blow dryer of 6 or so years finally gave out on me on Saturday. Long story short: some of my hair burned off. (But I have so much hair, you can't even tell. Unless I show you.) Also, burning hair smells terrible.
- Richie loves rolling around on the floor. He's starting to be able to go where he wants to. By rolling over and over and over.
- Richie is incredibly frustrated with himself for not being able to crawl. He is trying SO hard. It's gonna happen any time now.
- Richie is also STILL teething, but has NO teeth to show for it.
- I made a hot sock for one of the ladies I visit teach. I was talking to Tyler about it, and beating myself up for some of the mistakes I made, as well as bemoaning the hot sock's imperfections, when I realized: Hey, I made something. I did it. And it's going to bring comfort to this lady I visit teach. And it was good practice for me. And even if it wasn't perfect, that's okay. Good on me for getting out of my comfort zone and offering some help with my (VERY) limited (but hopefully expanding) talent of sewing.
- And I've been doing Weight Watchers to help me lose the baby weight I put on as well as the weight I gained after Tyler and I got married. I love it. I've lost 15 pounds so far. And while I have quite a ways to go until I reach my goal weight, I'm really enjoying the process. (Even though sometimes it can be difficult.)
- Tyler is doing very well in his classes. He's a straight-A student. (And he is working so so hard to maintain his A. I'm very proud of him!)
- Best of all, we're going down to Provo this weekend. And two awesome things will happen. 1) We get to see the Provo Heasleys! 2) I'll finally be getting a hair cut!
My point is this. One of my goals for myself this year was to blog more often about the normal stuff that happens to me (or that I choose to do or whatever). However, I haven't been doing as well at this as I ought to be doing. Hence this very run-together post. But I want to keep a better record of things.
Jill, my mother-in-law, commented to me once that she wished she had more pictures of the every-day things she and her family did as they were growing up because those are the things she misses now. I think about that a lot. And I'm trying to do better about record keeping and picture-taking so that I can have things to remind me of these sometimes hard but very happy times.
The end.

I love this post! Everyday life is the best. And I didn't know Richie was rolling all around like that...how exciting is that! He must be so proud of himself.
When my boys were about ages 2-9, I had a friend back east who asked me to just take a day and video the regular everyday stuff and send it to her. I thought that was a great idea and for days and days I kept thinking, this will be the day! But then the house wasn't clean enough that day, or the kids weren't dressed right that day...always something, and well, that video never happened. What I would give for a video like that now! Or pictures of our everyday life. I spent so much time in the kitchen back then but I don't think I even have one picture of it.
You won't have those regrets Karen. You have your blog, and you've videoed each place you have lived so far. What treasures they will be some day.
This is a great post! I love the update of everyday life.
And I am with Jill, how I wish I would have been able to have my blog when my children were all babies.
They love looking back at their lives "back then" already and I have only been blogging since, uh, was it 2005? or 2007? Hang on...I have to check...it was 2005! WOW! Did you know that I began when no one, including me, even knew what a blog was and it wasn't even called a blog or blogging back then. Blogger didn't exist, so no blogspot then, etc.
Anyway, I love, love, love your updates! And I love seeing the progress of your sweet boy and your wonderful little family!
And one more thing, I know it is hard to go around and try to meet up with everyone...but if you find a few minutes and can see the kids - they'd love it!
I love you!
I also wanted to tell you that I thought you looked so great and cute in the video that Jill had on her blog! Your townhouse looks so nice and you looked really beautiful. Motherhood certainly agrees with you. I could tell that you were losing weight but I didn't know that you have been working so hard to do that - and when you work hard for a goal such as that, it's nice to know that it is noticeable. So, I wanted to tell you that you are amazing, and beautiful, always!
