I love that visiting with McKay, McKenna, and Grant once a month is working out. It really just isn't quite the same without them around. And although the 2 1/2 hour drive from Logan to Provo really isn't that bad, it's still not a drive that we can make all the time.
So what, you ask, do we do when we all get together? Why, the same things we always do. Try to take over the world.
Er, try to win at playing board/card games. And of course, eat good food. And play with our babies. It is AWESOME.
(This pic is from January)
Rich and Grant are, of course, best friends, so we try to give them lots of time to get to know each other.
(And so is this one. The rest are from last weekend.)
They like to join in our board game fun.
Although, they don't really have the patience to sit and play one game at a time. (Note the toys above. And how Rich is going to cry because he'd rather be doing something else. Like be held instead of learning to sit upright.)
Or sit on Daddy's shoulders.
But like I said. These boys are best buds. See how they are checking each other out?
(I love love this picture.)
We really enjoyed getting to visit with them. But poor Rich was having a rough time. He cried and cried while we were there, and would only relax for Tyler and me. It was a big weekend for him, and I think he was just so worn out. What he was really trying to say was, "Mom, how come I'm not in bed yet?" Maybe it was my imagination, but when we tucked him in his car seat, he seemed relieved.
And he even perked up again when we got home.
Enough to discover that he could play games with his binky. He was so, so pleased with himself.
I (like Rich) thought his game was clever, so I helped him re-create it for the camera (while I took his temperature).
Altogether, it was an epic weekend. We loved having McKay, McKenna, and Grant up to visit us. And we already miss them tons. And can't wait to go down to Provo to visit them.
Family really is the best.

Rich and Grant are funny together because they look at each other, smile at each other, whack each other (control over limbs hasn't quite solidified yet), etc., etc. They just seem to get each other. When one is crying, the other has this look of, "Oh, I know exactly what that's about," or, "His parents are gonna have a hard time figuring out this one." It's truly super awesome to watch how they interact.
That is so great that you all can get together. The boys are so cute.
I too think Rich is very CLEVER! He is such a darling boy. Looks to me like he wanted some (undivided) attention from mom and dad. Smart boy!
I love seeing you with all of the family! How truly sweet that is. I hope you will always have family close by but just in case, soak it all up now! I know you love and appreciate that family time.
And if you happen to get down to Provo, and have a couple of extra minutes, there are a couple of really great Y students who would LOVE to see you. And I bet one or both would babysit for free...Grant included... :)
Thank you for taking such good care of us. We miss you guys. Especially Grant. Tell him hi from his favorite Aunt Nenna Face.
Oops... and when I said especially Grant that was code for we especially miss Rich. I mix their names up all the time. McKay and I both called Grant Rich the first week he was born...
McKenna--Confession: I do it too, sometimes. Remember when I was giving you the tour of our apartment? I called the baby's room/Tyler's office Grant's room.
And it is too quiet around here without you guys.
