One of My Less Awesome Days

When I woke up this morning, I felt terrible.

My throat was sore. My stomach hurt. My head felt awful!

I seriously contmplated skipping class today, to get some healing rest.
But then I remembered that attendance in class really matters. I'd lose points if I didn't go. And we have a test this week in one of my classes.

So I convinced myself to go.

I continued getting ready, but listlessly. I decided that doing my hair just really wasn't necessary. So, I pulled it back and threw on my Rich's hat.

(I felt like no one noticed me today in my hat. Like it was a disguise. People's eyes slid right over me. But it has my name inscribed on the front! In HUGE letters! How did they miss me? But, since I wasn't feeling well, I decided it would be okay not to be noticed.)

My first class today was really enjoyable. But afterwards, I was really tired. I decided to stay outside and read a book for my upcoming class, and nap on the grass if I needed to.

But the grass was still wet. So I sat on a little brick wall and read and slept.

When I woke up, I realize that I had sat on something yellow and sticky. Luckily it was on my undershirt more than my pants, and not at all on my actual shirt. How that happened, I'll never know.

But I was grateful that I could hide it. I didn't want to go home and change, nor did I wish to buy new clothing.

My other two classes went well. They were enjoyable-- as always.

And now, here I am. Blogging. Ready to nap. And do some more reading.

Wish me well, good readers. Though, I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow.

Falling behind...

I knew that this would happen~!

I'm falling behind!

And it isn't like I'm dreading the catching up.... I'm actually excited to do it!

For one of my classes, I have to write a research paper-- that I will eventually be submitting to a magazine for potential publishing! I'm excited about my topic... but I just need time to research it!! (And it is due on Friday... I thought it wasn't due until October!)

Luckily, I'm not working tonight or tomorrow.

But I do have Enrichment tonight. I get blessings for going to church meetings, right?

And I also have to read a book by Friday! Eeek!
I'm just barely getting into it. It took forever to reel me in and make me want to read it.
But, I will admit... I have to appreciate the author's writing style. I didn't realize that I was caught up into it until after I had been reading for about twenty minutes this morning. Now that is good work.

What else...
Oh yeah.
I have to read a play. (By tomorrow.) A Midsummer Night's Dream. A good one. I've always wanted to read it, truly.

Never fear, readers...

I WILL get caught up...

But it will be a lot of work...

Good thing I am a fast reader, right?
-- Wish me luck.
---And maybe convince Heavenly Father to give more hours to the day??

So, if you don't hear from me for a while...

This is why.....

I know I've said this before, but....

I really have the best job ever.

But it is SO much work.

But worth it.

Last week, I was working the BYU football game in the Presidential Loge, and had a really fun experience.

Elder L. Tom Perry came up and talked to me!!!

Now, the rule in Catering, is that we cannot talk to the customers. Especially the high profile ones. We are there for service, not to bug the guests. So, often, we get to work with higher profile guests, but we cannot initiate a conversation. If we do, we risk losing our jobs.

Lynne, the assistant manager of Dining Services, assures us that we will be instantly terminated.

BUT... if they come talk to us... no prob~!

So during half-time last week, my friend Ruth and I were serving ice cream to the guests in the loge. And guess who came through the line? President Perry! Ruth served him ice cream, and he moved on to talk to other guests.

But he came back later, and stood next to me. He asked, "How is the ice cream coming along." I smiled, and said something dumb, like.. "It's great! Can I get you another scoop?"
He declined my offer, and told me he was on a diet.
I laughed. (He had a piece of cobbler with ice cream on top in his hand.)
"Whatever for?" I asked.
He then proceeded to tell me that every year, before Conference, he has to lose ten lbs. Otherwise, when he sits down, the button on his coat will pop off and his coat will fly open. "And sure enough," he said, "the camera catches it every time!"

To which I laughed very much, and he moved on.

Yesterday, there were four apostles at the BYU game.
1- Elder Wirthlin-- he comes to every game, but he just takes his seat and watches the game. He sends whoever is with him to get him food.
2- Elder Nelson-- He was so kind. He got to the game a little early, and came right up to us catering kids. We were all clumped together, and he made small talk about the food that was on the table. I didn't say anything. Instead, I tried to step out of his way...
3- Elder Scott-- He was a fun apostle to get to see. He was so very friendly to everyone. I couldn't help but smile at him as he walked by me. But instead of walking by, he stopped, put his hand on my arm and said, "Keep that beautiful smile." It made me feel so good! He didn't have to stop and say anything, but he did!
4- President Uchtdorf-- He was pretty busy throughout the game. But, he did smile at me! And possibly winked. That made me feel good, too.... And I think his family was with him in the box seats next to the loge. I know that his wife was there. She made sure that the event staff (who couldn't see the game) were updated on the happenings of the game. Every touch down and major happening, she'd peek out the door and update the event staff, and any caterer who happened to be in the hall, as to what was going on.

So, I'm really enjoying my time at Catering... and there are rumors of another potential promotion coming my way.
But... with how busy my schedule has been, and will be... I just don't think that it would be a good idea.
It is nice that they like me though.

Anyway, cool stories, huh?

Question:

Okay, I want your help.

How so you tell your new roommates that you don't want them to bring boys into their bedroom?
They only do it occaisonally-- to help them move. But occaisonally the boys stay back there for a few minutes longer than necessary.
It's against the apartment contract. And it just isn't comfortable. What do I say? How do I do this without offense?

Let me know what you think. Please.
