You can check out his profile, and let me know if you agree.
And just look at that spine! Beautiful vertebrae!
(Another profile shot. I just can't get enough of looking at this little guy!)
Can I just stop for a moment and say just how incredibly thankful I am for ultrasound technology? When I went in yesterday, I was so sure that I was going to be told that my baby didn't have legs. They would say, hey, he's lookin' good, but you should be aware that he has no legs.
Luckily this was not the case.
Instead, they said he looked great. Everything is growing properly and looking good. Also, everything is in its right place.
However, they did point out to me a little white spot on his heart, called an echogenic focus, I think (which is the most common thing they see on ultrasounds). The technician told me that it was not something to worry about--her own daughter had had the same thing and is just fine. She said the little spot was kind of like a mole on the heart, but it wouldn't affect the baby's development or heart function whatsoever. But just to be safe, she said that they (the doctor's office) would be sending me to a perinatologist at the hospital to check things out and verify that there was nothing to worry about.
So today, I got to have another ultrasound!
Looks like our little guy might be going after his thumb. Maybe. (Those are his fingers that have been counted out in the picture.)
Both ultrasound technicians from today and yesterday had a little challenge getting the views they wanted--Baby Boy H just didn't want to cooperate. Yesterday, he had his little legs up over his body and his hands covering his eyes. Today, he was too comfortable for to move around for the technician, so she had trouble getting the view she wanted to check out his heart. He kept his hands up by his face the whole time today, too.
Anyway, the perinatologist confirmed what the ultrasound tech said yesterday. The little white spot is absolutely nothing to worry about. In fact, the doctor said that the white spot was probably just a little extra muscle mass, and for all we know, might even be good for the baby. We've only been able to see the little spot on ultrasounds for about the last 15 years, and really just don't know a whole lot about it. But when seen by itself, there is no reason to worry.
So, Baby Boy H is looking good! (And we absolutely cannot wait to meet him!)

Looks good to me. I am glad that everything is okay.
Aren't ultrasounds so fun?! I'm so glad that everything looks good!
Love this post! I especially like the phrase you use: "my son"...
Interesting about that little spot. For all we know, his Daddy had one too.
We absolutely cannot wait to meet him either!
He looks GREAT! And I do love the shot of his fingers, all 5. I am so glad that everything looks good. What a thrill to get to see your little guy. An ultrasound is the most exciting and reassuring thing that can happen during pregnancy.
Congratulations again, to you and Tyler (and baby H)!
I love love love little Baby H!!! I love his little fingers and I am so glad he is doing so well. I can't wait to meet him!
