To Do Lists

Maybe this is a funny thing to be grateful for, but I am grateful for my to-do lists.

The truth is, I've never been much of a list kind of person, but since working at Novell, I've realized that sometimes, making lists is the only way I can keep organized.

And I really enjoy making personal to-do lists or goal lists. I mean, I may never look at the list after I've made it, but just the process of thinking about what I need to do and writing it down helps me to get organized. (Though, sometimes it can become a little overwhelming.)

I remember reading somewhere once that if you are going to make a to do list, you should add the things you are already planning on doing (no matter how little they are) so you can cross it off. And it's true, seeing something crossed off on my lists really does feel good. Crossing it out feels even better--even when I know it's just something I wrote down for the purpose of being able to cross it off.

And if you look in my moleskin, you'll see lots of lists. Few of which are actually finished. But all of which, I'm glad I made.

As I am reading your more recent posts, you are reminding me more and more of my mother. She loved to whistle around the house and she was good at it (unlike me), she also loved making lists and drinking hot chocolate. Don't think she had a pocket knife though.

Lol... both you and Jill crack me up. I love it.. Making lists just to cross things off. Drinking hot cocoa with your pocket knife handy. Is Jill aware that there are probably many more than one pocket knife in your home?
