Hot Chocolate (Weather)

I'm really not so much a fan of deep snow, or lots of snow, or even too much cold, but I do love Fall, and the little whispers of winter that begin as Fall begins to head out.

And I think I love it for a couple of reasons: warm sweaters and jackets to get all cozy with, fireplaces (though I don't have one of those), and the first couple weeks of hot chocolate weather.

I love hot chocolate. I love trying different varieties: with mint, with cinnamon, with chili powder, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, with giant marshmallows, with mini marshmallows, and so on and so on.

And hot chocolate weather is the best.

It's cold enough outside that you need to pull on your favorite fleece jacket (or any other kind of sweater/jacket), but  not so cold that you feel your bones turning into ice.

And when you come home, the hot chocolate is waiting for you. It can warm you up in no time, but you're not so cold that you can't revel in the delicious cocoa combination (or plain) that you've created for yourself. You sip, and stir (maybe gulp a little here or there), you hold the warm cup in your cold (but not frozen) hands, and slowly, the coziness of early winter seeps into your veins, and all is well with the world.

I really like these early whisperings of winter, feeling the new excitement of a season beginning--and drinking in the blessed, delicious, and peaceful hot chocolate.

Do you have a cocomotion? We got one for our wedding and it makes the best hot chocolate. It heats it and whips it to perfection every time. And I hear you can make soup in it as well, but we tend to reserve ours for hot coco. If you don't have one I would recommend putting it on your Christmas list.

I realized for the first time this year I really love cold weather! I hate being cold but I love when its cold around me and I'm warm and bundled up. It is the best feeling and it makes me so excited for the holidays.
P.S. You still need to try Pero!

Chili powder in your hot cocoa??? Uh... I know you're from Texas but aren't you taking things a little far? And can you tell me how much to mix in so I can try it? ;)
