You know, we joke about this. . .

but it seems that H1N1 is getting pretty serious. Church was cancelled today because of it. The bishop got up at the beginning of Sacrament meeting today and announced that some cases of the Swine Flu had been found in our church building, so we would only be holding Sacrament.

Bishop Miller even asked us to refrain from shaking hands in order to prevent germ-passing. He also asked that we not be offended if we were to extend a hand only to not have it taken.
At first I was surprised by this announcement--I've never heard of anyone cancelling church before, not for a sickness.

But then I thought a little more about it, and realized just how many little kids are in our ward, and how worried I would be as a mother for my kids' little immune systems.

So even though today was supposed to be our first day teaching the youth in the ward (for our callings as youth sunday school teachers), we were let off the hook.

Also, although the virus commonly known as the swine flu is all around us, Tyler and I are doing just fine (knock on wood!).

So to all those fathers out there, we wish you a safe and happy Father's Day on this beautiful swine-flu Sunday. We love you!

My goodness, that is scary. I just got back from a cruise and the people who worked on the ship were not allowed to shake hands either. There was Purell all over the place. All this didn't work because I still got sick anyway. My fever got up to 103! It has now gone away.

Makes you wonder what they will do next week. I doubt the swine flu will be gone by then. But I like your stake pres/and bishop being cautious.

Wow...that is so interesting. That is something to definitely not mess around with. (I'm still loving the pictures your Aunt Mar put together of those masks!) :)
