And on to something new...

Like a new job!!!

I have been looking and praying and fasting for a new job since before Christmas. I applied for an editing position... and it didn't work out.

But, after Christmas break, I decided that I knew I needed a new job, and the Lord knew I needed a new job, so something would come my way. It just had to.

And it did! A couple of weeks ago, I was sitting in ward council when the 2nd Counselor asked me to announce in Relief Society that he was looking for an intern at Novell who could work 30 hours a week..

Without thinking, I said, "I need a new job."
He looked at me and said, "Really? Send me your resume."

So I did. I interviewed last Friday with him and the Business Operations Director that I would be working for.

I found out last night that they want me!

Here's where the miracle has come in:

No one around here is hiring. No one. The economy is not good, and people can't afford to hire. Even Catering will be cutting back this summer to 30 employees. (Right now we have 250.)

And not only did Novell offer me a job, but a good one! I can put this on my resume and show that I have some REAL job experience. (Real as compared to working in retail or with food.)

And the best part-- they are doubling my wages. I'll have standard hours. It's going to call for sacrifices, early mornings, a bus pass... but it is SO worth it!

Now, the job is only temporary. And it is an at-will contract... so they could walk in any day, and without reason.. fire me.

But even if they only kept me for a week... I could breathe a lot easier.

Hopefully, I'll start next week-- after Tuesday.

Wish me luck!!

Congratulations! I am so happy for you. Tyler told me you applied and I was just saying to Dennis this morning on the way to the airport, "I wonder if Karen got that job she wanted." So what good news!
Is it not interesting that you were doing the Lord's work when you found out about this job? :)

Karen! That's wonderful news! My brother-in-law, Brent, works for Novell down there. I know it's a HUGE company, but just thought I'd pass on the FYI. :)

Good luck!!
