Latest Adventures

So, last weekend, I had the time of my life!
Friday (of last week) I ran into my good friend, James, in the library! After talking for a few moments, he invited me and my roommates to go with him the next day to Jordanelle Reservoir to go wave running. Always game for an adventure, I accepted with alacrity. And it was the most fun I have had in ages!
Saturday was a beautiful day, perfect for spending time on the lake. Not to mention the gorgeous backdrop we had as we skimmed the water and swam in the reservoir. (I love the mountains. They are so incredible.) We spent all day out there. And I loved every minute.

What else was awesome about this week??

Hmm... well, Wednesday was Marilyn's birthday! Happy Birthday, Mar! I love you!! (if I was more on top of things, you would have a post to yourself. But I'm not. I'm sorry.)
Wednesday was not the greatest for me. I came down with a pretty bad cold this week. It was really rough. I couldn't breathe Wednesday night, and only got a few hours of sleep.
But I am feeling super much better. I'm almost completely sneeze-free.

And I am loving my classes. They are so good. I love getting to use my Spanish every day. And my English 252 class is SO interesting!! Right now, we are talking about hegemony and Marxism and their effects on literature. I'm going to have to study like crazy for this class... but it is so worth it.
And my intro to Linguistics class is AMAZING!! We learned the secret to ventriloquism on Friday. We talk about lots of little things that are really interesting. Some of which I have thought about on my own before, and just not really mentioned to anyone. It's nice to know that I'm not a total weirdo, I guess.

And LAST night, I went on my first date of the semester. It was lots of fun. A young man from my ward asked me to go catch a movie with him, and maybe play a game of pool. We did both. He totally owned me at pool. But next time.. I'll get him. Or whoever it is that I am playing.
(In my defense, I haven't played since April...)

Funny story-- So at the movie theater, I ran into a good friend from home. Trying to be a good date, I introduced the young man with me. And totally introduced him by the wrong name. It was awful. I knew his name, but I totally blanked, and pulled some random name out. That wouldn't be so bad, except that this friend has been hanging out with me and my roommates almost every day since we met him. I don't know what happened. His name escaped me.
No worries, though. He was a good sport, and didn't turn it into a huge deal. We're still buds. And we joke about it. Or rather, I joke about it, and give him a hard time.

Afterwards, I came home and stayed up until almost 4:30 talking and laughing with my roommate. I am so glad that she is here! We have so much fun together!

Today was wonderful, too. Michelle and I overslept a little... We got up by eleven... and then proceeded to clean our whole apartment. It was wonderful. Gross, but very satisfying.
I love my apartment, and it is starting to feel more like I live here. Slowly but surely, we are making it our own.
However, I hate our carpet and our couches. They are so gross. The carpet turns our feet black when we walk on it. We vacuumed it hardcore, hoping to make a difference, but I think that we need to steam clean it. We have mentioned this to the office, and they tell us that if we want something done, it will come out of the previous tenants' deposit. This is no good. The previous tenants are still in the complex, and therefore, in our ward. We don't want enemies, but we do want a clean carpet.
And the couches... have hair all over them... NOT our hair... but the hair of previous owners. Michelle and I took a couple of lint rollers to the couches, and got a little crazy. It's better, bot not fixed. We went looking for sheets or couch covers today, but it was all so expensive. Keep your eyes out, and let us know about good deals, so that we can cover our couches. Because, seriously... eww.
Anyway, we'll get that all taken care of. Soon.

Well, it is, once again, very late. And so, I am off to bed. (I usually keep much better hours than this... ) Sorry it took so long to update.... But better late than never, yeah? :) And sorry that I am so over the place. I promise to work on my organization.

Until next time...

What fun you are having! That would be rated BIG FUN on my fun-o-meter that I had at college.
Yes, I had one.
Love the story of the wrongly named date. It will definitely be a memorable date for him as well...

Glad you ar enjoying your classes. I love hearing about your adventures and the wonderful things you are doing.

Where have you looked for couch covers?

We went to Bed Bath and Beyond and DI... but even if there had been any at DI, I don't know that I could have gotten one. Something about complete strangers and where their couch covers have been... just doesn't sound that great to me.

Love the pics!! I am glad you are having so much fun!! I miss you. Anyway, Wal-mart sells couch covers, and sheets. Have you checked there yet?

Ha ha, so confusing, two Mar's!! I was going to try to use a different name, like the other Mar, but it made me use my blogspot account where I had already named myself Mar. Well, good luck with that, kiddo. At least you can tell the difference cuz my picture pops up too. Although if I had it my way, it wouldn't.
