Don't get me wrong. I love Portland. But where we are is very busy and trafficky (traffic-filled?).
As we crossed over into Washington, everything felt just a little more relaxed. And to be honest, it was really nice.
We headed out that direction to have a family barbecue with one of Tyler and McKay's co-workers (Mark) and his family. We had such a nice time out there. Tyler and I particularly enjoyed the drive to and from Vancouver. It is just so so beautiful out here. It's amazing the kinds of views you can see from the highway. I should have taken pictures, but I was also trying to do a little navigation. (And for those of you who do not know, I am TERRIBLE with directions, and get lost very easily.)
So, awesome things about today:
1) Getting to know a work friend of Tyler's. (And the friend's family.)
2) Going to a state I've never been to before. (This makes 21 states that I've been to, I believe.)
3) Visiting a neighborhood park in Vancouver. (Maybe this is weird, but the park smelled so fresh and good and clean.)
4) Seeing the building where Tyler works. (Albeit from afar, like on I-5 on the bridge.)
5) Getting to eat a barbecued hot dog. (I know. Hot dogs are probably one of the worst foods known to man. But I love them. Especially when I'm pregnant. And really, if you're going to do a hot dog, barbecue is the only way to go.)
Anyway.
Park pictures! I felt a little strange being the only mom chasing after my son with her camera, but Rich is just so happy when he's at the park. I can't help but want to capture his joy. Though, he is tough to keep up with.
We'll start with my favorite of the day. Check out my handsome boys, who both got haircuts this morning:
Rich is just so interested in exploring everything. And he wants to be able to see it all. You can almost see him thinking, "This is so cool. What else can I do/see/touch/throw/etc."
He's always looking for the next thing.
But he likes to stop and enjoy other people having fun as well. (Here, I think he was laughing at Grant having a good time on the swings.)
We really had such a nice time today. And it was so nice to be able to get outside and enjoy the (gorgeous) weather.

Karen, you do such a wonderful job of capturing the world from Richie's viewpoint. I love seeing how happy he is. Thank you for sharing these awesome photos. --Mom
