I remember being little and hearing my grandpa Rich whistle, I thought it was so cool, and I wanted to learn how to do it. And truly, I wasn't very good at it. At least, not for a few years.
I'm not sure if it has something to do with playing the clarinet for seven years, but really, I'm quite good at it. (I'm just stating the facts.) :)
But really, I think I love whistling because I can't sing very well. At least, I don't have a whole lot of range with my voice. I have far greater abilities with my whistle. And sometimes there are songs that I just love, that I want to sing along with, but can't.
So out comes the whistle. (Sometimes I don't even realize I'm whistling along with the music, actually.)
But anytime I am whistling along with something, I really do just become happier.
(Note: if you ever meet a young man [my age] named Hunter Wright [who, by the way, Tyler taught in the MTC], you should ask him to whistle for you. It will be the most beautiful whistle you have ever heard. He is an incredible whistler. In fact, he once complimented my whistle, and I felt super honored. Like, it probably made my year.)

You know I have noticed vast improvement in your whistling abilities. It used to drive me nuts when you were whistling but now that you know what you are doing I actually like it. And guess what... I find myself whistling too from time to time. I think it is from having Jasmine around for a while, I learned to whistle to her. And I still find myself whistling from time to time. I've discovered that while I'm not very good at it, I'm not half bad. It is a cheery talent we've inherited from Grandpa. Although there is a guy at work who whistles... badly... Drives me bonkers. It's everything I can do to keep my mouth shut. I don't think I can ask him to stop since I'm pretty sure I'll bite his head off it is that bad...
