It began with our bi-weekly temple trip, and ended in a cemetery.
You see. . . . My old roommate Christal got married on Friday. And McKay needed to take his rental car back to Salt Lake. SO, we all (Tyler, McKay, McKenna, and I) headed up to Salt Lake to take care of business and have a little fun.
Long story short--we ended up making it to the reception for only the last 20 minutes. It was beautiful. Christal looked so lovely, and so happy.
While the reception was fun (even for the wedding crashers McKay and McKenna), we decided we needed more adventure. Off we went to The Pie, a pizza place in Salt Lake. The restaurant itself was kinda shady, but super delicious. It's just south of the U of U campus, and is definitely a campus hotspot. By the time we left, there was a line out the door and up the stairs for people to get in.
Still, we felt that the night was young, and we needed further adventure. So, we did what any other group of college kids would do late at night.
We headed off to the Salt Lake City Cemetery to try to find the graves of some of the prophets.
We found the cemetery (and an open gate) around 10:00 or 10:30. Though we didn't have flashlights, we decided that we could see well enough to make a good effort at finding the grave sites of various past church leaders.
But as soon as we got going. . . I realized that I had a problem--my shoes.
I have some cute black flats that I wear frequently. But, they lack traction. Some of you may have read previous adventures with these shoes (click here to re-read).
I kept slipping as we were trying to explore. After nearly falling a couple of times, I decided to go ahead and take them off.
Yes, folks. I traipsed around a cemetery, in the dark, and without shoes on Friday night. And I would do it again!
It was SO fun. I could spend a whole day in there just looking at everything (preferably with shoes). Luckily, the ground wasn't too cold, and it was well-kept. Though I had to go slowly when we walked on the road inside the cemetery (there was plenty of loose gravel), Tyler and I were able to more or less keep up with McKay and McKenna.
We finally got back to Provo around midnight or so. After dropping McKay and McKenna off, Tyler and I promptly came home and went to bed. We were totally exhausted. But we had yet another awesome Friday night date.
**Please note that as a result of getting "cemetery feet" (at least, that's what I called them), I purchased a new--very cute--pair of black flats. They have rubber soles. And they were only $14.95 with tax. Score!!**

Why does date night mean the Rich girls have to walk around barefoot? We must be sisters!! PS see my most recent post if you have not done so already...
That sounds like a fun time to me. Pie is soooo good and I just love the Salt Lake City Cemetary. It is so cool. That is a good place to watch fireworks on the 24th of July. Cute shoes too.
I so loved reading this. You have a good way with details, and I LOVE details. I'm also happy to know you and Tyler went with McKay and McKenna to return the rental car. What an adventurous date!!
Oh and Marilyn has a point. I did read her post a few days ago. :) Too funny!
This cracked me up! I can totally see you running barefoot in the cemetary.
I'm glad when it was time for new shoes, you were able to score a good pair for a bargain price!
Sounds like a lot of fun to spend time with McKay and McKenna. Can I read anything into that? Just wondering. They seem great together and one doesn't play in the cemetary with just anyone, right? That could end up being considered a dead date if you weren't with the right person. (wink, wink!)
