Holy cow-- blessings!!

You are now reading the blog of an official editing minor! I (finally) was able to "apply" for the minor this past week.

Or rather, finish applying. You see, you don't actually "apply" for the minor; you get a signature on a blue slip of paper which shows that you met with your adviser in the ELang (English Language) department who okayed your desire to become an editor.

I started this "process" before the end of winter semester. I filled out the paper they wanted to look at, then tried to go meet with my adviser. Impossible. Attempts number 2 and 3 occurred this past week. Truly, the Humanities department could have things set up a little better. . . but I won't go into that here.

So I met with my adviser. Mel Thorne-- head of all the editing stuff that happens at BYU. He was so nice. It was good to meet with him; hopefully I'll get to know him a little better as time goes on.

Because of the nature of some of the editing classes, you have to take them in a particular order. Which, I have plenty of time to do-- if I can get into one class: ELang 410R. It's full. And hard to get into. The chances of someone dropping are pretty slim. (Actually, I don't know what the chances are, but they FEEL slim.)

However, Dr. Thorne said that if I was having trouble getting into the class, I should just come talk to him, and he would go "bend someone's ear" so that I could get in.

How cool, right?!

Amidst trying to get into the classes I need, I'm also trying to organize my schedule in such a way that I can keep my job at Novell and just work mornings. (I'm probably going to have some VERY early mornings this semester.) But it's good for me.

Anyway, same day that I met with Dr. Thorne, my schedule just started working out. If I can get into the 410R class I need, life will be in order.

AND this semester, I will finish all of my major classes. (Unless I decide to go to grad school in English, then I'll need one other literary criticism and theory class--which I am very tired of.)

SO, for winter semester, I'll only have one class that I HAVE to take (for my minor), so the rest of my time can be spent in getting intern credit as an editor and in taking fun classes. I'm so excited.

I mean, I'll be stinkin' busy, but I'm going to have fun doing it!

ALSO-- mark your calendars. I'll be graduating on April 22, 2010. From college! Holy guacamole-- I've almost done it. I don't feel old enough to be done with college-- I'm still just a kid. But wow. I'm coming up to the home stretch. One more lap to go.

So as I was saying, I've been (as in the communal I--for Tyler and me) very, very, very blessed.
