Halloween with the Smith's!

What is the best way to spend Halloween? With some of your best friends! Last night, the four of us went to see the Phantom of the Opera-- silent film style with live organ accompaniment. It was FANTASTIC! And so cool!!

Back in 1925, Lon Chaney (a.k.a. The Man of A Thousand Faces) played the phantom. In order to really get into his character and make his face more gruesome, he used wires to keep his eyes open so wide and make his eyeballs protrude. He also had hooks in his nose to pull his nostrils back. He didn't care about the physical pain. He was all about creating the character.

This is us in front of the movie poster. Two cute hillbillies, trying to be a part of the show! Tyler was great at being the phantom... It kinda made me nervous....

I mean, really, really great.

This is all four of us with Mike Oman, organist extraordinare: (from left to right) one brown nosing student, secretly having an affair with her music professor (Carly's words, not mine), one music professor who can't even leave his composing at home, one musical genius, and two hillbillies-- along for the ride. The organist/musical genius was phenomenal! He used to be in Tyler's stake presidency up here at the Y. But, I don't remember his name. I know Tyler knows, but he is at work.

We had so much fun. It was worth all of the running around before hand to get costumes thought up and made up. I'd like to say thanks to DI for my shirt, and thanks to Mollie for my freckles.

I love it all! Thank you for taking all these pictures and writing about the night. I was so hoping you would! You 2 look so cute together, even dressed as hillbillies. (That one picture of Tyler was beyond freaky.)
