My roommate, Michelle is in a nutrition class. For this class, she was told to try an experimental diet for three days. So, I decided to join her (for moral support-- I know I'm not petite, but I'm happy with my figure).
We lasted almost two full days on this diet.
We had decided to try a rice diet, which allows a small serving of fruit, and rice. (We also included milk, because I can't live without milk. I constantly have to go to the store to purchase more.)
It was the worst diet ever. So bland. So unfulfilling.
We began Monday morning. As I didn't have any rice products for breakfast consumption, or time to make a rice... I went breakfast-less. This isn't actually unusual. Unhealthy, yes, but not unusual.
I got home from classes around 12:20 to make some lunch, but started working on homework. I grabbed a bite (literally one bite) of left-over not-as-good-as-home ham fried rice, and ran off to class.
I actually ran into Michelle on the way to class. I stopped and talked to her about the terrible diet adventure we were then undertaking. She told me she was off to the creamery to buy some unflavored rice cakes, and told me she would bring me some when she got back to campus later that day. (Which she did. I ate three.)
Monday was insanely busy for me. I'd had a Spanish oral exam, a full day of classes, a Spanish written exam, and FHE. I finally got home around 7:30 to have dinner. At this point, I was STARVING. I had purchased gum earlier in the day so that I could at least try and fool myself into thinking that I wasn't hungry. (It didn't work.)
Faithfully, I ate my rice-dinner--which consisted of rice with a touch of salt and garlic powder, and half an apple. Delish. ... Ok, that's a lie. For a side, it would have been great. As a main dish, it was terrible!! I was starving, and it BARELY curbed my appetite, let alone eased my hunger.
By the end of the night, I was exhausted. I had had an extraordinarily busy day, and practically zero nutrients. No bueno.
Tuesday, Michelle and I both woke up late for our first class together. We rushed and made it to class a minute late. (First time late to that class for the whole semester!)
Classes were good. Both of ours ended at 11, so we walked home together, and made lunch. (More garlic rice and a little bit of apple.) Went to class again. Came home, starving.
It turned out that earlier in the day, Michelle had almost fainted in her anatomy lab!!! (She had had a similar experience on Saturday, so for it to happen again so soon was no good.) We decided to end the diet early. Both of us were tired, and neither of us were functioning as well as we should have been. So, we went to Bajio's, with the intent to save the dinner until midnight in order to at least have had 2 full days on the diet.
But it smelled SO good.
And we were SOOO hungry.
So, we ate dinner.
It was amazing. So delicious. So fulfilling.
Like, really filling. I ate a little over half of the meal and was stuffed. Hours later, I was still stuffed!
Anyway, the moral of the story is that diets are terrible. And that I like food. And I'm kind of done with rice for a while.
And if I did want to do anything about my body image, I'd actually go out and exercise.

YAY!!!!! How thrilling, a new post!! I am sorry your diet didn't go well, but I am glad that it is over. Thos kinds of diets aren't safe. You are so cute, just the way you are. I love you!!
Rice, rice baby...
oops, not rice, it's ice, ice baby.
That sounded like a terrible diet. Crazy, really. What was the purpose in only eating rice?
Glad to hear from you again! Please blog more.
I also need to know if I should pick you up on the 14th or if you will meet me in SLC on the 14th? Please let me know your schedule!
