Oh man! What a stressful week I've had!
All of the stress has mainly been related to one class.. and more specifically the test for this class.
Allow me to tell you about it.
We've been studying different literary critics, and their theories of literary criticism since the first week of class. Our test for this class: two essays written in one hour.
The test itself was given to us Monday in a little envelope. As soon as we opened the envelope, we were to give ourselves only one hour to take it. All preparation time wold then be over... and we had to sit down and take it. Talk about pressure!
The two questions came from a set of five possible questions given to us by our professor about two weeks ago. (The way the test worked was write about question A and choose between questions B and C to write about.)
So, in order to prepare for the the test, my friend Abby and I have gotten together almost every day to work on one question, and write out outlines that we could use for the test. (We could use one page of notes, front and back for the test.)
Every day, we'd beat one question down. Then we had two days where we went over each question in depth, and found quotes and examples... our goal was to conquer this test. And by golly, we were going to prepare our brains out for it.
And we did, all except for the last possible question... we did what we could, but no matter how hard we tried, we just couldn't figure the whole thing out. So, we did what all tired, frazzled BYU students do... we prayed really hard that we wouldn't have to answer it.
Thursday night we worked for 8, count 'em 8 hours punching out detailed outlines for the test.
I took it last night.
The required question was the one that we thought it would be, and were the most comfortable with. The other question listed my two least favorite options, but I was adequately prepared, (I feel) to respond to them.
Overall, I feel pretty good about my essays. Could they be better? Undoubtedly. Could I have had more quotes? Sure.
But I was writing furiously for an hour. I paused only rarely to read my outline. I honestly just didn't have enough time to add any more than what I had already written.
So hopefully, my ridiculously hard work for my ridiculously hard class will pay off.
But, if nothing else, it's over!!! I am free!! (to do other homework...)
To celebrate, Abby and I are going to Cafe Rio on Monday.
And I went on a date this morning, with my friend Tyler. We went first to breakfast at Kneaders for some incredible French Toast, then went rock climbing at the Quarry.
It was so much fun!!
And my test is done!
And my new laptop has been shipped and is on its way!
I feel like today, I can just sit back and breathe. Finally.

I am glad you are finished with your test. I bet you did better than you think. I don't think I've ever spent eight hours planning one essay.

Glad your incredibly hard week is over. Sounds like you are having fun and making the most of everything anyway.
