Look at what my husband got for me!

That's right, folks. I've been desk-less this whole semester. And while I don't typically do homework at a desk, I have been pretty disorganized this semester. I didn't even know that Tyler was planning on getting me one until last night! He found it on Craig's List for $10--and it's exactly what I've been needing.

When Tyler went to go pick this desk up (this morning) he realized that it wouldn't entirely fit inside our car. . . so he carried it for seven blocks! (What a stud!)

Then he ran back to pick up the car (and the desk drawers).

So, I got to have the fun today of organizing my new space. Check this out. This is my "old technology" drawer and my "most frequently used" drawer.

Note that you can see my old laptop, old iPod, a CD, matches, thumb tacks, rubber bands. . . all old technologies that have somehow been improved on or changed. (Ok, so-- I'm not sure how the tacks and rubber bands fit into the old technology category, but they do fit into this drawer, so there they shall be.)

In the drawer to the right, you can see my writing utensils, my moleskine notebook that keeps me on top of life, chapstick, charging cords. . . things that I will be reaching in my drawer to most frequently use.

It's perfect!!

Soon, we may be adding a little desk lamp to the picture, but until then, I'll keep using the candle that Tyler's Aunt Heidi gave us at our wedding (which smells delicious!!).

Anyway, I just wanted to say a big thank you to my sweet husband for the thoughtful surprise!

Also: I found this video while trying to find the pictures I took of my desk. I'm pretty sure that you guys will enjoy this one. . . :)

Gratitude for the Savior

Tyler and I had the opportunity to go to my friend Holly's sealing ceremony this morning. As the sealer was speaking to Holly and her husband(!), he counseled them to make sure to have a picture of the Savior in their home together.

Tyler and I have been talking about doing this for quite some time now, but we could never quite seem to get around to it.

But we decided that today was the day!

After running a few errands, we stopped at the distribution center in Orem and picked out this picture:

(I know it's not the best quality photo, maybe I'll upload a better one later.)

I really love this picture of the Savior.

And I really love the Savior. I am so grateful for Him.

Sometimes life just goes how you plan it to. . .

and sometimes it doesn't!!

Today, Tyler called me at 12:35 to tell me that he was on his way to pick me up from work for school. He said he'd be to Novell within 5-8 minutes and he'd call me when he was close. I was rushing to finish a project for my boss, and told Tyler not to worry about calling, but that I'd be down in ten minutes.

I finished faster than I thought, and headed down to wait for Tyler. I was kind of surprised when my phone started ringing a couple minutes later. Tyler asked, "Are you outside?" I said I was, then he said, "I don't think you're going to make it to class today."

My immediate thought was that the worst had happened, and Tyler had been in an accident.

Luckily, I was wrong, but not too far off. . .

Or back left tire blew out. While Tyler was on University Avenue (which is insanely busy).

Tyler then asked me if I could walk to where he was (at Sam's, about ten minutes walking distance from Novell), for he felt like he should pull over. (I was thinking: of course pull over! I can walk anywhere, don't let the hubcap bend!) But said, "Yeah absolutely. I'll be there in ten to fifteen minutes."

As I walked to Sam's, I realized just how blessed we are. Although it snowed recently, the snow didn't even stick. We have savings, so taking care of a tire won't hurt us financially. Sure it is unexpected (and unwanted), but totally do-able. Though the tire blew out on a busy road, no one was hurt; no extensive damage was done.
The more I thought about it, the better I felt. Winter really will be upon us soon, and if the tire was going to blow, I'm glad it did so now, when the roads aren't icy or slushy, and when it's only chilly outside instead of freezing.

Anyway, Sam's told us we'd have to wait a while, so we went to Pep Boys. They took care of us quickly, and although I did miss my favorite class, I made it to my computer class.

So, a very unexpected event, though unfortunate, wasn't the absolute worst. I can't even express how grateful I am for that.
